Monday Motivation: Organization

Monday Motivation: Organization

Today we’re going to talk about organizing your home.  It might seem strange that in a challenge dedicated to decluttering, it’s taken us three weeks to get to the topic of organizing — but it’s by design.

Before anything can be organized, it needs to be decluttered.   You need to know which items you want to keep before you wade into the world of organization tools.  If not, you end up spending tons of money on novelties to help you store things you really don’t want or need in the first place.

The key to staying organized is to make sure that everything has a place — and that the rest of the household knows where that is.  Store similar items together — all your towels in one place, all your kitchen utensils in the same drawer, all your shirts in the same spot in the closet.

For today’s challenge, begin thinking about the first area you want to organize, and what might help you to contain those items. It could be as easy as a magnetic clip to hold coupons together on the fridge, or as complex as setting up a system for keeping the area near the front door tidy.

To give you some inspiration, we’ve put together 62 organizing solutions to help you get started. They come from the great minds on Pinterest, who seem to have an organizing idea for almost anything.

If you have ideas of your own, please share them in the comments!
